We have been using Bent Dime Lemoncello and then more recently Orancello through the duration of our bar program at lago, even after getting our full license. The benefits for a type 41 are obvious when the world of non-distilled products is sparse and often disappointing, but we still use it now as part of our program for many reasons. For one, we love having a local product made from ingredients we understand and trust.  We also unanimously prefer the wine-based characteristics of Lemoncello to a classic limoncello for its less viscous, less syrupy and more nuanced palate.  Being wine-based, the notes of the chardonnay are an asset whereas a classic limoncello would be full of sugar to cover up the low-quality neutral spirits used.  The Lemoncello and Orancello are both fresh, innovative products we enjoy using and our customers love too!

Bent Dime Lemoncello and Orancello are fortified wines infused with natural lemon or orange zest. A fortified wine is a wine to which a grape distillate (brandy) has been added to increase alcohol content and enhance stability.

The TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) classifies both Lemoncello and Orancello as Wine Cocktails.

Because they are wine-based, both products can be legally sold and served by establishments with a beer & wine license (ABC Type 41). This makes them accessible to restaurants, wine bars, pizzerias, and cafés that do not hold a full liquor license.

Both Lemoncello and Orancello are bottled at 23.5% ABV (alcohol by volume).

  • Base: Premium California wine.

     

  • Fortification: High-proof grape brandy.

     

  • Infusion: Fresh zest from California lemons (Lemoncello) or oranges (Orancello).
